Sashimi Slayer
Slice & Dice!
Chop up crazy sea creatures into sashimi with the beat!
Parry their rhythmic attacks before striking back with the perfect cut!
This game is designed to be played with a custom arduino-powered sword controller, so conventional controls may not be the best experience.
The Web build may have unstable audio. Downloaded versions are HIGHLY recommended.

Hotkeys
Numkey "1" | Toggle Debug Info |
Numkey "2" | Toggle Conventional Controls/Arduino Alt-Controls |
Numkey "3" | Debug Reset |
Numkey "4" | Quick connect to first port in dropdown |
The alt-controller has only been verified with the standalone windows build.
Setup:
1. Make sure the sword is connected and lying on a horizontal flat surface, parry buttons facing down
2. Press "Tab" to open the Settings menu.
3. Select the appropriate Serial Port in the dropdown. On windows this will likely be the highest-numbered COM port (assuming you plugged the sword in after any other peripherals)
4. Press Connect
5. If it succeeds, change the input mode to 'Alt-Control Sword' in the dropdown, from Default
6. Let the sword calibrate before moving (the in-game aiming line should go horizontal when it finishes calibrating)
If the sword disconnects randomly or the gyro calibration sucks:
1. Turn the sword on/off (unplug/replug)
2. Repeat the connection setup again

The art and music are fantastic, but I had a hard time aiming the sword and remembering which keys to press to parry when. Half the time, I was just button-mashing.
Thanks for playing! That’s definitely the biggest issue we’ve heard about so far. Development is on pause over summer, but clarity and the beat UI are the first things we’ll be working on.
The update is way more fun! Even when I was losing, it was pretty engaging! I love the hand-drawn art and the music, and the slashing system is great!
I think adding a system of "Perfect!" "Okay," text based on how accurate your slash is, though.
This game is soooo much more fun in a quieter room!! Great work team!! The fish parrying is perfect, and the sound of the fish leaving the water exactly one measure before you slice it makes it really satisfying. One gripe I have is the ambiguous timing of the slice notes. I understand you're supposed to wait for the fish to line up and wait for the beat, but I still feel robbed when I slice it one measure too early when the fish were perfectly lined up on my screen!!! I think an pre-emptive sound or something would make it less frustrating, similar to the "Bah bum bum bum" sound in Air Rally from Rhythm Heaven Fever, or if the visual cues didn't fade out as you get closer to the intended timing. Ultimately, the controls were quite responsive and the cute art and music really came together. Wooo!!
Thanks Aron :D Yea there’s a bunch of issues, your feedback Is super helpful!
